Sr. Principal Software Engineer | Smartsheet | Remote (United States)

<p class=" text-gray-200 text-base sm:text-lg leading-relaxed mb-3">We are looking for a Senior Principal Software Engineer in the platform pillar to build a top-tier software organization that will help design and implement Smartsheet&#8217;s next generation architecture. In this role, you will identify platform scale and performance challenges, build and lead strategic projects, mentor other engineers and can act as a lead on projects. You will drive positive change in the work environment with a consistent track record of delivering on commitments. You will communicate proactively and effectively to different kinds of audiences, including executives and non-technical stakeholders.</p>
<p class=" text-gray-200 text-base sm:text-lg leading-relaxed mb-3">You will report to our SVP of Engineering located in our UK office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.</p>

<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Build scalable back-end services for the next generation of applications at Smartsheet (Kotlin, Java, GO, Python)</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Solve challenging distributed systems problems and work with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Take part in code reviews and architectural discussions as you work with other software engineers and product managers</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Mentor junior engineers on code quality and other industry best practices</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Forge a strong partnership with product management and other key areas of the business</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Influence and mentor other teams of engineers, acting as a technical design mentor and providing architectural and design input</span></li>

<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">12+ years software development experience building highly scalable, highly available applications</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">12+ years of programming experience with full stack technologies such Java, Kotlin or TypeScript</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">2+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Experience developing, documenting, and supporting REST APIs</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.</span></li>
<li class=" leading-snug mb-2 pl-2"><span class="text-gray-200">Legally eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis</span></li>

Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California &amp; New York: $248,400-$334,800 | All other US States: $230,000-$310,000</p>
