<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>
<p>Within the last five years, FranklinCovey has gone through a major transformation! We shifted from a typical training company to a tech-focused competitor with top-notch content. In 2018, we switched to subscription-based digital learning using our All-Access Pass platform. In 2021, we acquired Strive, a key player with clients like Slack, Airbnb, Pinterest, and Intuit. Now, we’re positioned to lead in edtech. Our Platforms team is looking for great talent with a growth mindset to join and help grow our product.</p>
<p>As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build products to help organizations train their employees and overcome their most pressing people-related problems at scale. You will work with product, design, data, and content teams to build a modern learning platform, scaling usage (and impact) 10x in the next year while maintaining a stable app.</p>
<p><strong>Essential Job Functions</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Build</strong>: You will ship regularly and iteratively, writing testable, readable and maintainable code.</li>
<li><strong>Track & Refine Scaling Processes</strong>: You will aid the team in tracking the performance of shipped products, refining any processes as needed for the app to continue to scale.</li>
<li><strong>Review & Architect</strong>: You will weigh in on major architecture decisions, play a leadership role in code reviews for the team, helping set the engineer bar, and defining best practices.</li>
<li><strong>Collaborate</strong>: Early in the development cycle, you will partner with product, data and design to define the product features and functionality to ensure we’re building the right thing at the right time and in the right way.</li>
<li><strong>Support</strong>: You will work with the sales, marketing, implementation and support teams to ensure users get the most value from the products you’ve built.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Additional Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>We use Terraform and Datadog to deploy and understand the current operational telemetry. This position will help staff up this skillset on our team and help to spread the knowledge to more of our team.</li>
<li>Being proactive, digging into areas you are unfamiliar with and a willingness to work with ambiguity, by understanding the business needs and helping us choose a path forward</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Basic Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.</li>
<li>Experience with both Python and Django. <li>Experience with Terraform.</li>
<li>Experience with SQL.</li>
<li>Experience with JavaScript.</li>
<li>Experience with one or more of the following programming languages/frameworks: React, PHP, or TypeScript.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Skills & Experience</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Operational responsibility for code deployed at AWS.</li>
<li>An eagerness to dive in and understand—and continually improve—our codebase, encouraging fellow developers to do the same.</li>
<li>Experience architecting or refactoring complex systems.</li>
<li>Excellent written communication skills, this is a team that works via written words, so not it’s just an ability to write, but a desire to drive change via writing.</li>
<li>Experience with performance, security, privacy, accessibility, and localization/globalization.</li>
</ul>
<p>For location-specific compensation information:</p>
<p>California – Anticipated compensation for this position is $180-220k. Actual offer may be outside of this prediction and will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.</p>
